about

My fellow Greenhouse emcee Hasani the Black Ninja had a line in one of his songs where he said "we smoke homegrown, not government-issue, 'cause they don't love you"... I loved that line so much, I elaborated it into an entire song. This entire song, including the basics of how I wanted it to sound, came to me in one burst of inspiration that had me scribbling furiously to keep up with the rhymes arriving full-formed in my head. Carl Larado did the drum patterns, I layered and chopped up the synthesizer samples, and then he laid a live bassline to tie everything together. The week we did this song opened for KRS-ONE at the Guild Theater in Sacramento, and after we performed this song the crowd gave us a standing ovation. Recorded in 2003 by MICjordan at Metroplex. This song was also featured on The People's Revolution Mixtape, released in 2005.
